Leaders from the past, present, and future of the Philippine National Police (PNP) met to discuss the future of the organization. The meeting was attended by former Chief PNP Edgar Aglipay, former ambassador and NCRPO Chief Vidal Querol, and other alumni of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAAI).
Members of the PNPA Alumni Association, Inc. (PNPAAAI) welcomed the initiative of the two alumni associations to foster collaboration and discuss the upcoming handover and succession of PNP leadership.
Graduates of the PNPA, led by its most senior graduate, former MPD Director Pedro Bulaong, Danilo Abarzosa, immediate past Chairperson of PNPAAAI William Macavinta, and current Chairperson of PNPAAAI Gilbert Cruz, Undersecretary of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, formally presented to Chief PNP Benjamin Acorda Jr. and PNP’s fourth man in command, TCDS Emmanuel Peralta, a transition and succession plan. The plan aims to ensure a smooth transition of leadership from the PMA to the PNPA.
The initial stage of the plan is to create a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two alumni associations. The MOU will be a manifestation of their commitment to collaborate and ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
One of the salient matters discussed during the meeting was the need for a standard template and parameters to identify officers who will be groomed to hold major positions in the PNP. The plan also includes a career program for PNPA graduates and a mentoring scheme for young officers.
The transition and succession plan will be crafted by a Joint Technical Working Group (JTWG) composed of members from both alumni associations, as well as active and retired officers from the PNP.
The meeting was a positive step towards ensuring a smooth transition of leadership in the PNP. It is a testament to the commitment of both alumni associations to work together for the betterment of the organization.
