The Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association, Incorporated (PNPAAAI) strongly condemns the baseless and sweeping statements made by Mr. Ramon Tulfo on his personal Facebook page, which unfairly malign the integrity of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and its graduates.

The PNPA has a long-standing tradition of molding young men and women into competent, honorable, and service-oriented leaders for the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Bureau of Fire Protection. To assert that the negative actions of a few individuals are reflective of the entire institution is not only unfair but also diminishes the contributions of thousands of PNPA graduates who have served the nation with distinction, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.

The alleged involvement of certain PNPA graduates in criminal activities, which is still subject to investigation and due process, is an ungrounded call for the abolition of the Academy. Every profession, including the police force, has its share of individuals who fail to uphold their oaths, but it does not mean the institution is inherently flawed. The PNPA continually reviews and updates its curriculum and training doctrines to adapt to the changing needs of law enforcement and to ensure the highest standards of ethics and service.

We also refute the unfounded allegations made by Mr. Tulfo regarding the supposed teachings within the PNPA. These claims are grossly misleading and do not reflect the principles, values, and doctrines imparted to our cadets. Our faculty members, whether active or retired police officers, as well as civilian professors, are committed to instilling respect for human rights, integrity, and accountability among the cadets.

To suggest that the PNPA be scrapped and that rookies start at the lowest ranks disregards the purpose of a structured officer training program, which is mandated by law. The PNPA equips its graduates with essential leadership and decision-making skills, enabling them to effectively serve as officers from the onset of their careers. This foundation ensures that they are well-prepared to lead by example and guide their subordinates with competence and integrity.

The PNPAAAI stands united in defending the PNPA’s honor and excellence and no longer tolerates misleading narratives for media mileage that unfairly target the institution. Mr. Tulfo’s columns frequently disregard factual accuracy and instead focus on casting blame on individual personnel or their training institutions. We call on the public to avoid accepting such sweeping generalizations and to respect the principles of due process. The Academy remains steadfast in its commitment to developing officers who serve and protect the Filipino people with honor, justice, and integrity.
