In a significant step towards strengthening partnership, the Philippine National Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PNPAAAI) and Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This momentous event took place on October 7, 2023 (Saturday) at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, Mandaluyong City with Atty. Benjamin C. Abalos Jr., Secretary of the Interior and Local Government as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, marking another milestone between the two institutions on national security and law enforcement.
The event was attended by senior and junior Lakans and Cavaliers. The Lakans headed by LAKAN GILBERTO DC CRUZ, Chairperson, PNPAAAI and the Cavaliers led by CAVALIER DANILO A ABINOJA; PNP Command Group led by PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA JR.; and the PNP Council of Elders chaired by GEN. RENATO S DE VILLA (Ret). The MOU will serve as a framework for stronger cooperation and an agreement to work hand in hand, sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise in leading the PNP, upholding the nation’s interest.
CAVALIER EDGAR B AGLIPAY, Senior Past Chairman, PMAAAI, briefly shared his experience working with Lakans during his police service stint and then gave a background of the MOU. It was later followed by the signing between the two alumni associations.
LAKAN CRUZ conveyed his profound gratitude on this long-standing partnership between PNPA and PMA. He expressed that this event does not merely signify a transition of leadership instead, it marks an important shift towards the assumption of significant responsibilities that every PNPA Graduate has been diligently trained and prepared for. With the Lakans now taking on the major roles in PNP, he pledged that any culture of elitism or exclusivity will be continuously addressed. He also added that Lakans will uphold principles of meritocracy and professionalism among ranks, ensuring a more inclusive and professional environment for all.
In his message Secretary Abalos emphasized the crucial role of the police and military in nation building. He also highlighted the efforts of DILG on the promotion of third level officers in the PNP, the passing of House Bill No. 8327 and other efforts of the agency on his reform thrust. He concluded his speech by expressing his unwavering support to both associations.
The program ended with a photo opportunity and fellowship among attendees.
